We sat down with Marcus Thorpe-Fairall, Creative Director at Alchemy Gaming, to talk all things Bass Cash 1000™ — the latest instalment in the hugely popular Bass Cash™ franchise. From Winston's return to three brand-new routes to a 1,000x multiplier, here's what he had to say.

1. Bass Cash™ is already one of Alchemy Gaming's most established franchises, so what was the central idea behind Bass Cash 1000™ and what did you want this instalment to add to the series?

With every Bass Cash™ release we are looking at ways to move the franchise forward. There are many games featuring 1,000x multipliers out there, but these are often simply added on top of an existing structure - and it was important to us for that not to be the case here. We wanted to introduce the 1,000x in a new and genuinely meaningful way, one that feels native to the game rather than bolted on. The three distinct routes we've built toward that multiplier are a great example of that thinking in action. I fully believe we have achieved just that, and I think players will feel the difference immediately.

2. The game reunites several familiar features, including Winston's Wild Catch, Cash Collect and Gold Free Spins. How did you decide what to retain and where to evolve?

Including Winston's Wild Catch was a no-brainer for us. We also firmly believed that the Multifish feature would pair well with both Winston and the 1,000x Multiplier. Having a rainbow fish land and duplicate into random positions, adding significant win potential, was a great move! The Gold Free Spins and Bonus game have been solid additions to the Bass Cash™ games for a long while now, and we all agreed they were worth retaining.

Ultimately, we are always looking at what features make sense and can work together rather than against each other. That philosophy is what drives every decision - keep what earns its place, evolve what can go further.

3. Winston's Wild Catch has become one of the most beloved features in the series. What was it about the character that made him such a natural fit for the franchise, and how does he show up in Bass Cash 1000™?

Winston is everyone's favourite dog, I swear! He has so much personality and has become a real fan favourite across the franchise. Combining Winston's Wild Catch - where he dives into the water and turns reel positions into cash symbols - with the ability to reveal MultiFish and cash multipliers genuinely takes the feature to new heights. It's one of those moments where character and gameplay come together perfectly, and that's something we're really proud of in Bass Cash 1000™.

4. Bass Cash 1000™ offers three different routes to a 1,000x multiplier in a single spin. Can you talk us through how those routes differ and the type of moment each was designed to create?

We have a random chance of landing the 1,000x multiplier on any spin - when this happens, any subsequent cash symbols that land are automatically multiplied by 1,000x.

The second route is through Free Spins via the Collection Trail. As collect symbols land during the feature, the multiplier increases with each reactivation, reaching that impressive 1,000x on the final position of the trail, where every spin has it applied to landing cash for those five extra spins. It's a really satisfying build - each stage feels earned.

Lastly, for those who want to experience the 1,000x on every spin from the start, there is a boost mode available - where available. Three very different moments, three very different feelings, all leading to the same exciting destination.

5. The Bass Cash Bonus shifts the focus to filling five reel spaces, collecting cash values and completing trophy sets for jackpots. What kind of contrast were you aiming to create between this feature and the multiplier-led Free Spins?

The Bass Cash Bonus was designed to offer another route to the jackpots. But that can be a very all-or-nothing experience, so we made it more engaging by allowing cash to be collected along the way - our way of adding depth to what could otherwise be a straightforward outcome.

It creates a different rhythm to the Free Spins. Where Free Spins are about building the multiplier and watching it grow, the Bass Cash Bonus is more immediate - each spin either adds to your cash total or brings you closer to completing a trophy set. The two features complement each other, and that contrast was very much intentional.

6. Bass Cash 1000™ also includes Bonus Recharge™ and UPSIZER™, where available. How do these features enhance the Free Spins experience for those looking to progress further along the Collection Trail?

Yes! Bonus Recharge™ is such a great feature to utilise, especially when just one collect symbol away from initiating a feature - it adds a meaningful decision point to the end of Free Spins. As the originators of the Upsizer™ mechanic, we always look to include it in our games where it makes sense. In Bass Cash 1000™, Gold Free Spins begin with three collect symbols already on the trail, meaning fewer are needed to reach the 2x multiplier and increased spins. Both features are designed to give that extra layer of depth to the Free Spins experience - where available.

7. What can we look forward to next from Alchemy Gaming, and is there anything you can share about the future of the Bass Cash™ franchise?

We have some very exciting and ambitious Bass Cash™ releases coming up after this one. The franchise has so much creative territory still to explore, and the team is genuinely energised by what's in the pipeline. I wish I could share more details right now - what I can say is that we are pushing ourselves creatively in some very bold directions. Watch this space!
